[LIT] Using Graphic Novels to teach traits

My daughter and I went to the Marvel Comics exhibition at the Los Angeles
Science Museum today.  I got inspired to try and teach the elements of a
story, onomatapea, character development, etc. through the use of comic
strips (now called a Graphic novel).

I can also teach art, with the culminating project a short Graphic Novel,
illustrated in comic book fashion.

Has anyone tried something like this?  Any great ideas?
