[LIT] Celebrate...

My kids just finished their gifts of writing! Each
have written, edited, revised and shared a winter time
memory for someone they love. Packed with thoughts and
feelings, sensory images and special "family
language," their work is placed into a carefully
crafted booklet and decorated with love. Because I
have my kids for all of their middle school years, I
offer three different memoir projects with tons of
student input. One student wrote about how his gift of
writing from last year became the best gift he had
ever given. He said it helped his family remember
happy times and create new ones. Parents are
overwhelmingly pleased with their child's effort and
care. Guess what? It is actually each one of my
students that provide me with the "best teacher gift
ever!" Year to year, I watch with pride as each one
grows to become a writer in their own right...
