 This approach supports summarizing in a varity of ways.  For starters, it
helps students do the work that must be done (pre-reading and reading
comprehension strategies) before an accurate summary is even an option.  In
the absense of this work, summarizing is likely to be a waste of time
(garbage in, garbage out).
