Pam writes:   Some recent books (within the past 5 years) that have gone over 
well are:   

The Overlander Chronicles (starts with Gregor the Overlander & has a series 
of, I think, 5 novels);

Peter and the Star Catchers (only complaint was it *looks* too thick) - was 
really popular from book fair;

The Cryptid Hunter (again another really popular due to book fair & awesome 
interview with author that played on our ITV, morning TV announcements)

The Bone series (graphic novel that boys & girls alike LOVE - in fact, all 
three of my Bone books walked off my shelf - that's the best way to tell that 
kids love 'em)

The Clique Series (girls love 'em & boys don't bother with 'em)-these put me 
in mind of Mean Girls meets the Babysitters Club
