Thank you for your questions and need for help; they are mine as well. I have been seeking wisdom from arena as well as from middle school alumni: my grown children, former students. Most of them tell me that the majority of the reading needed to be done independently at home in order to prepare for discussions, group work, comprehension work for the next day. They tell me they remember writing every day and that spelling was kept to a minimum and grammar was tedious though necessary. Several told me that they often had 'group' projects that most of them did not enjoy, especially if there was a group grade involved. It meant that a few did all of the work of the many; not unlike the real world. A couple of former students described their class period where there was a 1 - 2 - 3- activity schedule each day. They did not elaborate on what each component was.
FOR ALL OF YOU WISEST, AND BEST, AND BRIGHTEST, ANY SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE APPRECIATED. I WILL HAVE TWO HONORS ENGLISH CLASSES AND 3 REGUAR ENGLISH CLASSES AT THE 7TH GRADE LEVEL.
Thank you in advance. The first day of school for me is August 21.
