I'm in the same situation with a child fresh from Korea. I'm trying to find some of our 7th and 8th graders for translations in case of emergency.
In the past I used some of the old Richard Scarey??? books. I'll have to find the titles. I remember one had pictures of animals doing things and everything was labeled. I also have 2 picture dictionaries for her.

I would want to find out if the children are literate in their home language, as this makes your job a bit easier than if the
children are not literate in their spoken language. Find out if there are Hebrew Day schools in your community-- they often
meet after school for study and might have some resources or suggestions for you.
