[LIT] students that do not speak english

I've only had a few non- speakers of English.  For the young lady from
Bosnia, I bought many picture dictionaries and an Albanian dictionary for
me. We "read" through the picture dictionaries, me asking her the Albanian
word for the pictured item.  I checked the Albanian dictionary and showed
her the Albanian/English translation in the dictionary.  This helped her see
that we were talking about the same word.  I put signs all over the room,
using both English and Albanian. I also arranged to have her read picture
books to the Kindergarten students.  She did extremely well!
