I use Reader's Theatre from the Scope magazine. I also use Reader's Theatre for history from a few Scholastic professional materials. My favorite is what my students are doing now. They are writing their own script from the novels they have read in their book club. It is so much fun to watch them write these and then perform. I make sure they are using the author's words and voice for their individual characters and they choose their favorite part of the book to perform. It is great as a book talk also, as the other students get a taste of the book and want to read it themselves. One of my groups is doing the "frozen tongue" scene from Christopher Paul Curtis' book Watsons Go to Birmingham. It is absolutely hilarious.
