[LIT] Laurie Wasserman's "Special Gifts"

I love when kids take the time to make a card, write a poem or letter, or
draw a picture just for me.  I guess it's because it happens so infrequently
in my community of learners.  For such a group of needy children it always
amazes me how self-centered they are.  I guess it's just the age and the
fact that no one models giving and caring outside of the school environment
and that's not always modeled in school either. 

As I write this I look at a poem written by a past student w/ aspergers that
I had. It hangs on my wall and I'll always remember him.
