[LIT] vacation reading

I cannot recommend Best Sports Writing enough. I pick up a copy every year and I am never disappointed. I get caught up with all the major issues in sports and am introduced to players and sports I would have never known. I am an avid reader of ESPN magazine, but this series kicks it up several notches. The writing is so rich. I occassionally excerpt some writing that I think would be of high interest to my students.

As for me, I plan on finishing "The 5 People You Meet in Heaven" "Veronica Decides to Die" and "Teaching vocabulary to improve reading comprehension" by William Nagy. I am going to re-read "The Four Agreements" -- I think I'll need to re-charge my inner zen master as we make the death march to state assessments and spring break. I am going to finish "Hole in my life" by Gantos and develop unit questions for our reading in January.

Hi!

What are you looking forward to reading over winter break?! Me, I've got a
Barnes and Noble gift card left over from my birthday, and will wait a few
days to see what Christmas brings before indulging. I have my eye on "Best
Sports Writing 2007" though.

Take care,
