I totally agree with you about the nipping away of the reading time. I
finally got tired of dealing with that also. I got this suggestion from
another list: rather than dividing my DAY into the parts of a workshop, I
divide my week.
wow kim....guess what? that is exactly what we are doing in my school this
year. i think i mentioned before that i am working with another reading
teacher and when we started to meet, we decided that the biggest challenges our
kids face is consistency. we deal with the lowest reading levels in our high
school. any time i changed the warm-up, so many of them got so flustered. i
know my ADD kids would (and other challenged students...many do not like
change) but I was amazed at how many of my other students really did well with a
routine. so, the first thing we did...we set up the curriculum for each day
of the week. i am hoping this will help all of my students settle in
faster. :)
