GMail or GoogleMail is a free email service. This is similar to many other
free email providers such as Yahoo or HotMail. Essential you give the
provider your information (or fake information) and they give you a free
email account.

I think most people use free email accounts such as GMail to get some sort
of separation from home or professional email accounts. They also are easy
to sign up for and easy to abandon when they've outlived their usefulness.
