[LIT] student government

We are instituting a student government in our new school and would like info on how to best go about this with 150 sixth graders--student population.? 

I've been asked to assist and help in organizing with ideas and info.... HELP!? I forgot what does go on in student government..? of course, we have said they will be part of the decision making and bringing concerns that is student oriented.
