[LIT] initial assessments

Hi!

We got a good sense of different initial assessments people use. I was
planning on using a few homegrown ones, but quickly found this year's
class needed so much community building I, well, never quite got around to
using them.

So I was thinking of asking this anyway, but it seems more like a burning
question to me now - how accurate do you feel your initial assessments
were? How helpful have they been in shaping your instruction, and in what
ways (if any) have they helped you shape your instruction?
