AS the dogs and I came in this morning form out walk, “Tony Brown’s Journal” was
laying on the TV. The fellow speaking immediately caught my attention—I sat
own to listen. I only heard the final ten minutes or so, but I wish I’d heard
he whole program. The man was Rudy Crew, super of the Miami-Dade County
chools. Is he “for real”? He was saying things I’ve thought for several years
ow, since returning to Little Rock. I looked on the internet, and “Tony
rown’s Journal” plays at different times around the country on PBS stations. I
ope you can catch it later today—you’ll find yourself having a conversation
ith the TV screen. Has anyone read Dr. Crew’s new book? Here’s the TV listing
or the “Tony Brown’s Journal” week of Oct. 7:
Dr. Rudy Crew, superintendent of Miami-Dade County Public Schools, discusses
ublic education in America, the subject of his book, "Only Connect: The Way to
ave Our Schools."”

ome of you on the list who have worked in NYC or Miami under this man’s
uperintendency, what’s your take?. After ten minutes, I want to apply for a
ob in Miami!
