[LIT] Summer reading

I lead a summer reading group for my school for professional reading.  
People are already asking what book we are reading and I am looking at a 
couple of books by Ruby Payne ( I teach in a title 1 district in urban 
Los Angeles).    A few know her work already, but most don't, and the 
principal has already said he will send us to conferences at our local 
department of education if she is presenting. Which book would be the 
best one to read?
