[LIT] has anyone published their students work?

hi,
we are in the middle of our high stakes testing (FCAT) which will not be  
over until march 13th.  i always spend the last quarter doing something fun  with 
the kids in hopes they will enjoy reading again after we endlessly hammer  
them with relentless drills in order to prepare them for 'the test'.   :(   
 
the last 2 years, we worked on a family history project which they  loved.  
however, this year, i have a lot of students for the 2nd time so i  want to 
change the project.  reference and research is their weakest skill,  so we engage 
in authentic reading instruction with these 2 goals in mind.   so....this 
year we will be researching different types of children's lit and  they will 
become the authors!  my students rarely succeed in school.   i try to change that 
attitude from the moment they walk through my doors, but i  think we have come 
up with a great plan to recognize their success as  writers.  
 
 
several books will be chosen for 'publication' and i am making arrangements  
to visit the local elementary school where they will be able to read their 
books  to the students in the appropriate grade levels.  any suggestions,  
comments, ideas?  i need to focus on this as we struggle through the  testing so it 
is ready to go on march 14th.  thanks for your input!   :)
