Hey Pat,
I wonder if these students had interventions before. I also think a
number of different programs may tend to confuse a child struggling to
read and comprehend. While I have no program specifically for you I
will recommend you read Nanci Atwell's Reading in the Zone. It is so
important that kids this age (8th) receive choice in selecting books
and time to read. I Often these kiddos chose not to read outside of
school but any program must include a chunk of independent reading in
an environment that allows kids to truly concentrate. Having someone
to conference with is key.
