Hi Maureen,

Your post was very helpful and it made a lot of sense, I'm getting up to
speed on brain-based learning--it's fascinating! I like the idea of an
author's study--many of my students already have favorite authors, so this
would be easy to introduce.  Upi mentioned Fountas and Pinnell, which I've
heard of, but I'm more familiar with lexiles. I even submitted some of my
studentss' writing to the lexile site to see how high it rated.
