Re:  Mary Dovey's post last week...

Although I am a 4th grade teacher and technically not part of this
listserv's community, I enjoy reading the posts anyway in hopes of exposing
my students to other ways of thinking and preparing my kids to succeed at
the next levels.  Also, in my heart of hearts I am (or at least I've been
until now) a fifth grade teacher - in some areas that would be middle
school.  So...I read with interest and curiosity your post that included
some terms with which I am unfamiliar.  Can you elaborate a bit, and then I
can go off on my own to explore in depth?   The terms were: "hotseating and
tableaux, and interactive note-taking."

BTW, are you familiar with text mapping?  It is a skill I've worked with in
an attempt to make textbooks more accessible to these younger folks, with
some success.
