Hi Pat,Have you thought about graphic novels?  I, myself, cannot get into
them, but a couple of years ago a number of my struggling readers -
interestingly mostly boys - gravitated toward this genre. One series I
remember in particular is "Bone."  I know there are a lot out there - try
amazon for some more ideas.
