Title: The Thunder!

You hear it. You can’t see it.
You think thunder.
You look everywhere.
You don’t see anything. You look one more time. You see them. You see the horse. You worry they are coming at you. You wonder will they run into you?
You yell for HELP!
You roll up in a little ball and wait.
You look up. You can’t see them any more. You look again. You still can’t see them. You think, did they vanish? You think that is impossible! How could something vanish? You think again maybe, it is possible. You go home. You hear a horse. You then see a man. You hear him say every time you hear a horse you will see them. You ask, “See what?” You hear him say the horses. You look up. You see them. You know not to be scared of the THUNDER!

Crash! Bang! Dishes fell down,
The mirror, Ancient China set.
Crash! Bang! What am I to do?
I broke it all.

ADHD, super wild,
Oops!… there goes the T.V…. CRASH!
BOOM!! What was that? Turn around, Whoops!
There goes the Boom box.
The couch is torn to bits,
The beds! The Blankets!
The carpet! The clothes!
Rip! Tear! Zap! …and Pow!

Everything is shredded to bits.
I'm so gonna get it,
When mother gets home.
What have I done?
BOOM! The house is falling down.
CRASH! If only I took my meds.

This is a poetry style called Tratina. Look at the pattern of the ending words. Then, all of the ending words need to be used in the closing sentence. That makes a Tratina.

Title: Newton’s first law
Author: Danny

Newton’s first law shows movement
Being pulled to the ground is force
Objects in motion stay that way

Everybody get out of the way!
Unbalanced forces cause movement
Rest is caused by an unbalanced force

Gravity is Earth's force
Pulling objects to the ground is gravity’s way
Newton’s laws caused scientific movement

Newton discovered the force that causes movement, he showed us the way!

Life takes you to places
You don't want to go.

Bumpy, yet smooth.

What will happen next?
Or when will it stop?
It's exciting, yet thrilling,
It's scary, yet fun.
It's adventurous, it's dangerous,
It's mysterious, yet
Full of woe.

Life can be hard
Of too much for some to handle.
But for me,
Life is what you make of it,
You can't change the past,
The future's set,

We are a class of 18 students (14 boys and 4 girls) and we are in a school of about 340 sixth, seventh, and eighth graders. We have our own double classroom, so we get to spread out, and we have Mrs. Moore for all of our day except for our specialist classes (technology, art, phyed, band, and choir). We are located about 25 miles west of Minneapolis just outside the metro area.

We have just begun our journey into poetry by making lists of our writing territories (lists of ideas that are near and dear to us that we might or might not write about someday) and creating a heart map of topics we could write about that could convey our emotions. We have also discussed different kinds of poetry and read some poems. We've realized that sometimes reading poetry is like solving a fun riddle or mystery, you get to use your own ideas to experience the words of others. And finally, we have started looking at poetry vocabulary, and we wrote and revised our first alliteration poems (Some of us even got to trash our poems if we didn't like our first try!) We are exited to share our poems and read everyone else's!
