An Ode to Music

An Ode to Music
by Ron

Music is so sweet
Like a cake I’d like to eat
It’s the wonderful beat
That puts you on your feet
Music is a weapon
To get you ready
To get you pumped
Before a game
Extremely powerful
Yet sometimes silent
It talks to you
It rocks with you
Til’ the day is through
Music is sweet

Baseball

Bridger Cotton

baseball can be played in a family with friends
a relaxed game with boundaries
that’s why people love baseball few things in life have boundaries
but are also so relaxed
the smell of hot dogs fill the air
and as I watch the game take place I hear someone say “kill the ump”
moments later I see a player with a bat in his hands and a helmet on his head
walk back to the dugout and take a seat
seconds later I know why
then he kicks a Gatorade cooler and red Gatorade goes every where
that was on sport center and the player was fined for his behavior
that’s where the boundaries come into place you cant kick an ump or hit a bat boy or throw stuff on the field witch I have seen happen a couple of times
baseball used to be relaxed is relaxed and always will be relaxed but
as long as there’s baseball
there will be the boundaries that come with it

When I Am At the Snow

When I am at the snow

Every time I am at the snow, I
Have the time of my life.
Swishing though the snow, as
fast as I can, without breaking
my hand.
Going off jumps is hard, but its
okay because I fall anyway.
I love going to the lodge, to get
hot coco ,and going back to the
snow felling all warm.
That is my poem and if you don’t
like I don’t care.

Dragons West/East

Dragons West/East
by Brandon

In the west dragons are killers
They steel money, princesses, and kill the knights sent there
Some fall, some win
Dragons smell like sulfur, their scales are harder than armor
They have eyes that glow red
They bring bad luck
In the east dragons are peaceful
They can grant wishes
Give good health
They smell like flowers
Their scales are like silk
They are invisible
Only way to find them is if they want you to
The points of views are complete opposites
But they both have dragons in folklore.

The Grim will Catch You

The Grim Will Catch You

You cannot hide from your demise
The grim is watching you in his eyes
Whatever you do
Whatever you say
The grim will find you anyway
Wherever you hide
Wherever you run
Death is still a loaded gun
You cannot move
You can’t escape
Death will not cooperate

The Music Around Them

The Music Around Them

In the beginning there was music
Not like we know today
With all the anger and hate
It was made by the animals
Who knew the world’s poor fate
In the middle there was music
Though not as clear
Seeing as how nature was beginning to disappear
In the end there will be music
But it will not be the animals
Who sing the worlds last song
Since man has taken over
And they are long gone
No, it will be man who sings
The worlds last song
As the tower around them
Fall to the ground
If only they had listened
The music around them

Alone

Alone

You’re trapped, confined
Dead to the world and your self
Hoping for salvation but finding none
Imprisoned behind your own eyes

You put on a fake smile
And say what wants to be heard.
But you can’t escape your thoughts
Your stuck in your own ideas

Questioning everything
Your ideas fly
But they’re stopped instantly
Tied down by you

You can’t escape
There someone in your head, and its not you
Is there no hope at all?
Is this the final chapter?

True Friends

True Friends
by Sam

What is a true friend? Is it something that just comes along or something you have to search for?

A true friend is someone who never judges you; they accept you for who you are and not what you have.

A true friend is someone you can call at 3 in the morning just to talk about your problems.

A true friend is someone who brightens your day; someone who can make you smile for no reason.

A true friend is someone who has a shoulder for you to cry; someone who never makes you cry and you never make them cry

A true friend is someone who you can’t stand to stay mad at for longer than a day.

A true friend is someone you could tell anything to and they wouldn’t tell anyone no matter how big it was.

A true friend is someone you can spend days and nights of pure fun and never get bored.

A true friend is someone who will laugh with you and will never laugh at you.

A true friend is someone who won’t let anything come between the two of you.

A true friend is someone everyone deserves. That one person that is loyal to you and you, in return, are loyal back.

Your Demise

Your Demise

Death may come
And death may go
He is no ally
He is no foe
It’s evil as dark as darkness can be
It’s evil as Satan wants it to be
It walks around in the midst of the night
Seeking its pray oh what a sight
Some people will hide
Some people may run
But you can never hide
From your demise

Summer Dreams

Summer Dreams
by Kate

Summer is sweet as candy, if you beat the heat.
Children laughing jubilantly down the skinny street.
The country houses are all lined gay.
Every time the children play all day.

Never let summer get you down.
You don’t want to be frowning like a clown.
Don’t stay outside too long or you will fry like a piece of barbecued chicken thigh.
So trust me you don’t want to cry.

You can spend your days at the beach.
Have no constrains on how far you reach.
Don’t forget you funny friends.
Before the sunny summer ends.

Confusion about Whom?

Confusion About Whom?
by Brad

Who did what?
The old man stole the cookies?
But I saw,
A mysterious,
Figure.
Did he really?
No?
You say you didn’t.
But do you have to?
Or are you,
Blinded by the world,
And what if it found,
What you did wrong?
Would you still hide from the world?
Or would you confess,
That you stole,
The cookies.

Breakfast Battle

Breakfast Battle
By
Daniel

The waffles sneak
Behind Oreos
Approaching the imminent battle
Clifton says to Marty
“If I die send my butter
Home to my mother”
They trudged along
Past the sink
Until they saw
Sausages
They hid
They ran
They ducked and fell
But the waffles were not ready
For the ambush

Then Clifton looked over
at Marty
Syrup spewing from him
It was A gruesome sight
Crust and syrup everywhere
Clifton tried to help
He really did
But it was too late for his friend

And when he looks back
On that fateful day
All he can see
Are sausages
And syrup

Arrival of Death

Arrival Of Death
By Ryan

Relax my dear,
My arrival is close to an end,
The smell of death sparks in my brain,
I try to escape but I can’t move
The gates open and a gun’s barrel is pointed at my head,
It’s a shame I have to die right here,
The day is dead, and the night is dark,
The sound of a bullet shot breaks the midnight silence,

Who would of thought, that this very place,
This very time, could end my breath,

Take a good look and see,
For it is the last time to be with me,

The arrival of death has come,
And I won’t be coming back.

Family Is

Family Is
By Nate

Family is a warm meal around the table
Family is a full house of love
Family is a bag full of candy
Family is a Mom, a Dad, and brothers
and sisters who will always be there for
you
Family is a bowl full of sugar
Family is a box full of chocolates
Family is a heart full of love
Family is warm bed to sleep in at night
Family is a gift that will never be replaced
Family is…..
What does family mean to you?

What is Music?

What is Music?

Music is the best way
To let out all of your emotions.
You can write a sad song, a happy song
A scary song, or an excited song.
Songs can have double meanings a
Hidden message or no words at all.

Music can be about the past
The present, or the future
A song can be about the artists life or
About someone else’s
Music can be about
Anything

Music is what you want it to be,
You hear what you want to hear
Some music could just sound
Like noise to you
Or just like noise to someone else
Music is
What you want it to be

Music is like a massage
Calming our stressed minds
Music fills us with
Relaxation and peace.
But it can also be
Loud and obnoxious
BANG BOOM BAM!
Just a bunch of noise
But music is still
What you want it to be

A Feeling

A Feeling

Emotion is such a very hard thing.

It’s the feeling you get when you laugh or cry

It’s the feeling from others when you’re born or die

The feeling follows you wherever you go

Into the mountains or through the snow

It never turns off its constantly working

So someone can tell if you smile or frown

The feeling is real and it can’t be faked

Its not hard to do just elaborate

People will care and people will know

Emotion is such a very hard thing.

Swallowed Up in my Pain

Swallowed up in my pain
by Sara

Darkness swirls around in my head
Taking over all thoughts
That I once had control of
My tears fall to the ground
One by one
As the pills poison my body
My breathing is slowing
I don’t want to live anymore
I’m going to end my pain
So I’ll take my last breath
And shut my eyes
I’m never to wake again

Fear is Here

Fear is Here
by Darin

Fear is here everyone,
It is amongst us,
It is in the wind,
It can be as big as a mountain,
Or as small as a grain of sand.
It is in us,
Taking control of our lives,
Making us pull out our hair,
Even start to make us scream.
Fear is in the world

It is like a dark, dark alley
Fear is here everyone

The Good and the Bad

The Good and the Bad

Friendships can be happy
Friendships can be sad

Friendships can be everlasting
Or they can last just one second

Seeming like just as you got it
It suddenly disappears

Like you can’t hold onto it
Though it may want to hold onto you

Friendships can bring you joy and laughter
Or they can bring you tears

But no matter what it gives to you
Don’t give up on it

Then What?

Then What?
by Sammy

Have you ever wondered how it would be to be stuck in a box?
Or how it would feel to be imprisoned?
Well what if that box was, dark, expressionless, and useless.
Then what?
Would you keep it? Or would you throw it away?
What if it was something’s salvation of confinement?
Then what?
Would you treat it as fragile as royal china?
Or would you stuff it in the back of your grandma’s shoe closet?
What if there was a vile corps of death in the box?
Would you treat it as if it was from god?
Or, would you throw it in a dumpster so it could be buried underground?
Would you put it someplace with glitter and shiny things?
Or, would you treat it as an old candy box and chip a little away at a time?
Me, I would burry it in a golden rectangular box and write phrases of ancient Egyptian times on it.
Would you treat it as if it was King Tut?
Or, just another box to smash down and get rid of?
Would it be a different story if you were inside?
Or, would you leave it up to the person with possession of the box?
You can decide….

Meaning of Pie

Meaning of Pie

To me, pie means a lot
Oh pie, fresh and hot
It brings warmth and sweetness to every meal
No matter your ailment, then pie will heal
If you don’t like your dinner, then what a great deal
Cooling on the window sill
Children wait for their dessert. never sitting still
The timer goes off
Children run, children scream, as if they were hurt.
It does not matter though
Because I beat them all
I eat. I feast.
If I eat anymore pie I shall fall
To me pie means everything that is good.

Ode to a Penquin

An Ode To A Penguin
By Michael

O how I love you penguins to the death
When my heart is almost full, you fill it up the rest
The way you glide along the ice
Is like the way my spoon glides through my rice
Your black and white is like a tux
But yours is cool, it does not suck
Your beak is great orange and pointy
Not like the crows dark and stumpy
O penguin, O penguin I owe you my life
Without you, it would not be nearly as nice

About Our Class

We are the McKinleyville Middle School Comets! If one is looking to find us, one would have to travel up to the northern tip of California. We are nestled between the beautiful Pacific Ocean and the majestic redwoods, hidden away in our own little fogbank. Our school has a little over 400 students. The Nelson Core class is a class that learns about Social Studies and Language Arts for three periods a day! Right now, we are in the midst of our Civil War simulation! We are also doing our own Poetry Slam in the class, complete with judges and club atmosphere.

I've been ionized, but I'm okay now.
