Have you ever... by Feryn

Have you ever been so pissed off
That you could only hit the walls
And everybody around just doesn't care?
But you know a part of them will feel today
Like you felt it too
Even if they drift away,
Because everybody gets mad.
Everybody feels sad.
Everybody in some way,
Is like the dork in the hallway.

If you were me... Jessie B.

If you were me, how would you feel?

I thought we were in love
Well, that's what I felt
When we were together
You made my heart melt
When I think of you
It fills me with pain
Just to know
You love again
I try to sleep
But then it hurts
I think of you
And it gets worse
I fall asleep
And want to die
I sit around
And then I cry
I thought it would last
Our love forever
A blast from the past
I will never surrender
I guess it was destined
For us to depart
I guess it was time
For us to restart
You left me for rumors
That shouldn't be spread
You made me feel unwanted
You made me feel dead
You said you'd still love me
You said you'd still care
You said we'd be friends
But you're never there
We've been through the hard times
We've been through it all
I will be there to catch you
Whenever you fall*

Encouragement by Christine S.

Encouragement
By Christine

Enduring the hardships of life and death
Needless to turn your back on what’s supported
Countless hopes and dreams to accomplish
Outrageous numbers of people scampering for any bit of encouragement
Unbearable suffering do to lack of encouragement
Ragging fury in minds of others that fail
A simple comment can change the lives of others
Grasping for a bit of encouragement
Encouragement comes freely
Many people have to stop and think then comment
Every one scatters for any hint of encouragement
Nothing is stopping you from giving so give
Tip the scale and flood the world with encouragement

Stress and Pain by Pao Choua

Stress and Pain by Pao Choua

So much stress and pain in the life of mine and yours
What can we do so that our stress will be gone?
It’s full of darkness
Inside your heart and mind
When you have stress
But no one seems to know
When you have stress or not
Because it’s kept really deep inside
Your memory
No one wants to reminisce
About the bad times they have been through
Everyone will have stress one in their lifetime
But it’s just not time for them to have it yet
Everyone is trying to get away
From stress and pain
But they can’t
Even the presidents of the United States
Have been through stress and pain before
But you can never tell if they do or not
Because it’s in their mind and memory only
I have had so much
Stress and pain in my life
But what can I say
Keep my head up and try to
Keep the faith and pray
For better days

"Where I'm From" by Siri

"Where I’m From" Poem
By Siri
I am from bundles of clothes from Hollister to Abercrombie and Fitch.
I am from the two big rocks that lay outside.
I am from the big oak tree that seems to never die, and the big yellow lab that barks whenever an evil dog walks by.
I am from fast food on Fridays and late night American idol with my family, from my many Relatives that are so faraway.
I am from family meals and disturbing conversations.
I am from "Mary a rich man" and "speak up because one day that voice will make a change in many peoples lives.
I am from a lazy Lutheran family, from a Sunday where we think about going to church better never do.
I’m From Gunderson Lutheran, and hot dogs with my mom famous mac and cheese.
From the stories of my dad grandpa who had his own Mexican band, from the delicious food my mom says her mom used to make when she was a kid, and the kindness of my dads mom.
I am from the big box of pictures under my bed that seem to always keep growing. I am from family, I am from family.

Melts in your mouth
Sweet and sugary
Flavorful and fun
Makes you hyper
Changes your tounges color
Taste is great
Always worth the wait
Seems to go so quickly
Makes your fingers sticky

Courage by Max J.

COURAGE

What makes a dog guard his home? Courage
What makes bees defend their nest from intruders? Courage
What makes a bear defend her cubs? Courage
What makes a tiger guard its territory? Courage
What makes a nerd stand up to a bully? Courage
What makes people stand up for what is right? Courage
What makes Max defy his sisters? Courage

Intelligence by Carter A.

Intelligence
Intelligence is the river of achievement.
One can either cross it, absorbing its wealth,
Or one can remain on the same side, not going anywhere.
It is within us all
To make the more intelligent choice.
Intelligence is the book of knowledge;
It is waiting to be opened and to be absorbed,
For with it, one is credible.
Cross the river and read the book,
For if you do, intelligence will be a friend of yours.

This Road by Sam A.

This Road

Here I stand at this road
My shadow taller than my soul
Lies a road I must go…
With all the broken hearts
Along the road
It hurts to go down
But I must go
I must pursue
For my life is at the end
So I may love again

Honor by Andreux

Honor

I have it. Everyone does.
It’s a requirement
For some, but not for
Everyone because
Not having honor
Means not caring.
Not caring
Means how unreliable someone
Really is being.

What more can I say about honor?
I also have a friend named Conner
Who also has honor.
If someone has a lot of honor,
It really shows. If someone doesn’t have honor,
It shows how much they know.

Knowing about honor and seeing if you have it
Is really fun to learn.
But knowing that you have it,
Also knowing about it
Is just more knowledgeable that you can earn

When you left... by Kathryn G.

When you left, tears filled my eyes.
I wanted to break down and cry
Because I remember when it felt like we could fly.
But now I have to say good-bye.
Forget me not tomorrow.
Don’t wash this pain away,
For you are the one who has gained my trust.
So you must come back to stay.
Is this the way things have to be?
This is just too hard on me.
Times will change.
My life will rearrange.
Days will fall and memories will fade.

Light by Hannah S.

Light

Along the dark shadows I take a light
Sparkles off in the east
And then and there my life reads out
Into just one piece
The memories pour out
And the thoughts deceit
And the path off in the distance
The one no one thought to take
I walked down
The fear out spoke my untended care
But then I thought I’m not alone
Because in the distance of the east
Shines the faint light
Upon the path that only I dared to take
But the light might not shine as bright
As it did for me
Because you haven’t yet to take the path
But when you strut down
The dirt road you won’t be surprised
Because way back in the shadows
Of the east the light shines
To light your way

Respect by Hlee L.

Respect

Who do you respect?
How do you respect?
Do you show respect?
When will you show respect?
Do you respect yourself, others,
And the world around you?
Wherever you are,
Always show respect.
Respect others as they respect you.
Respect everyone!

Be Truthful by Bao C.

Be Truthful

Be truthful to others
No matter what happens
Don’t lie to others
Don’t make them get into trouble
If you do something wrong admit it
Why blame others
When you did it
Don’t just like to stay out of trouble
Be truthful
Speak out the truth
If you don’t
Next time you will regret it
Why don’t you tell the truth
Be truthful

Generosity by Haley L.

Generosity

If you find yourself miserable and remorse,
There truly is one way to heal your ill and bitter soul,
And that, my friend, is generosity.
Generosity lurks behind every mountain,
Every door,
And
Every corner.
Generosity is your shadow when you walk home alone in the pitch dark blackness of the night,
It is your friend,
Your safety net.
Generosity, my friend, is one of the many things in this world that makes sense, that works.
It is one of the many graceful and pleasant things in this world.
So remember this,
When you find generosity,
You shall find complete and total bliss.

Integrity by Whitney W.

Integrity is always around us
If you do it right, there is nothing to discuss
Talk my be cheap,
But our actions are concrete.
It’s not right to lie
If you do, you won’t get by.
Be willing to make the world a better place
By putting integrity in your space.
Integrity is never right
It’s just as bad as a fight.
You try being in someone else’s shoes,
But without integrity you will lose.

You like this boy,
You try to act cool
Funny
Smart
And popular in front of him,
But just face it,
That’s not you
You are acting like something you’re not.
You’re not being honest.
Someday he is going to find the real side of you.
What will you tell him?
It’s all a big joke?
Well, integrity is not a joke.
It’s all about being who you are
And not trying to be someone else.

Patience by Dillon M

If patience were a color,
It would be the color blue.
If patience were a taste,
It would taste like gum.
If patience were a touch,
It would feel like grass.
If patience were a smell,
It would smell like scrambled eggs.

Being responsible is doing the things you say you're going to do.
Being responsible is being reliable.
Being responsible is being dependable.
Being responsible is getting your assignments done on time.
Being responsible is helping people when needed.
Being responsible is to help motivate people when they are down.

How does one write a poem? by Claire L.

How does one write a poem?
To take an idea out of thin air,
Then make it have a voice and passion?
To make it mean something to someone,
To make them truly care?
How does one write a poem?
With words that enchant the page they rest on?
Make words that have feelings and passions?
Turn a sentence into something meaningful?
Touch the heart of the reader with words?
How does one write a poem?
Create rhythm with no music?
To spark a dream in words?
To inspire with mere paper and ink?
Create hope with mere phrases?
How does one write a poem?

Blue Skies are Falling by Kayla F.

Blue Skies are falling
by Kayla F.

I look to the distant
With the air in my face

There is the beautiful sight again
I watch in amaze as the sun starts to rise

I wish to always see the gorgeous gaze
As the day goes by the sky begins to die

And fall to the night never to be seen
As it was in the end

Now I wait in patients to see the sight again
The blue sky is gone it has fallen into the night

And now it has left to never be the same
As it was that very day
When the sky went away

You and I by THE MATT

Every Day
I see you
Something I want to say
But just can't do
Such Beauty:
Love?
Definitely

I don't care
What other people say
I can't live without you
My heart gets in the way!

You and I
Love
It can never die
Love
Something you cannot buy
Love is
You and I

Something
In your eyes
So blue
I'm nervous: faint defies
You break my heart
Love?
Something Apart

You and I
Love
It can never die
Love
Something you cannot buy
Love is
You and I

I just want you
To see
I think you and I
Are meant to be
Am I not good enough
For you?

I love you
I don't know what
To do!

You and I
Love
It can never die
Love
Something you cannot buy
Love,
You and I

And that is why
Love exists
You and I...

Hate by Shane N.

Hate
If hate were a color it would be a stygian hue blended with a blazing scarlet
As scarlet as a fresh road kill squirrel
If hate were a taste
It would be an ice cold stew
Coated with a repulsive frost
If hate were a touch
It would be tense as one friend strangling another
If hate were a smell it would be revolting as a scorched piece of chocolate
If hate were a sound
It would be palpable as the hair raising shriek of nails on a chalk board

Sadness
If sadness were a color
It would be baby blue,
As blue as the brilliant sky.
If sadness where a taste
It would be just like a salty tinge of water.
If sadness were a smell,
It would be a dull fragrance of a rainy day.
If sadness were a sound
It would be as quiet as a pin drop.
Sadness

Excitement
If excitement were a color
It would be multi-colored
As colorful as the sunset in the sky,
If excitement were a taste
It would be like the sweetest candy,
If excitement were a smell
It would be a lovely fragrance of a spring morning,
If excitement were a sound
It would be loud as a big marching band
In a long parade,
Excitement

Faith
Is a true meaning
Of trust, confidence, belief, and loyalty,
It can be a religious word,
Faith helps me believe in God,
It shows me my way on how to live my life,

Courage in Life by Javon

Courageous people always do what is right.
Only cowards do wrong things with the law.
Until people get in enough trouble they might stop if they can find courage.
Requires people to have wisdom,
And strength.
Great people have courage,
Especially during times when people are in trouble.

Individuals like the soldiers in the Iraq war show courage everyday.
Numerous people have died in the past showing their strength and courage.

Learn to be brave even when you want to run.
Imagine if you didn’t have courage what would you do?
Fearlessly standing up for what is right
Exploring the world trying to find courage.

Color Me Different by Avery S.

Color Me Different

Color me different I said to the crayons.
Black, white and grey I will not be.
That is when the crayons said to me what would you like to be?
I answered as politely as I could
I want to have locks of aqua as blue as the endless sea.
I want to have skin of green, as green as an apple tree.
I want eyes of purple, as purple as ripe plums, juice trickling from the fresh bite mark.
And lastly my heart painted gold.
The crayons agreed and my wish was granted.
I was color in a world of Black and white.
I was different…and I was me.

Just Another Nightmare by Iris M.

Just Another Nightmare
by Iris M.

Bite my tongue with my own teeth.
Look at what I can and cannot see
Because I hate West Avenue and cars.

Find my courage,
Squash my fears
The rest is me just being me,
Looking at this blood - seeing a sea
Your despair was not asked for,
But it seems you've evened your last score.

I can see you lying there,
With flecks gravel in your hair
Your brown eyes are staring at the ground
And you no longer make a sound

Because I hate West Avenue and cars
For you, I'll bite my tongue with my own teeth,
Look at what I don’t want to see

Now that I look you in the eye
I know that I can’t let you die--
Slit my heart and watch it bleed,
Take this as your single lead:
If I could I would stand in your shoes,
I'd gladly die in place of you
Because I hate West Avenue and cars
And I can’t stand your face all scarred

You deserve this life more than I,
So take me instead, and let me die.
Cut my tongue with my own teeth-
I can’t stand to watch you bleed,
Because I hate West Avenue and cars
For you, I'll bite my tongue with my own teeth,
Look at what I don’t want to see

If I could I would stand in your shoes,
I'd gladly die in place of you.

No matter how hard we cry,
No matter how hard we try,
In the end we can’t change what we have seen
We can’t change what we have seen
What we have done,
What we have been.

Simple Pleasures by Pa Kou L.

Simple Pleasures

Raindrops falling on your rooftop
Stopping to get coffee in a friendly little shop
Wearing fuzzy slippers while you're home all day
Picking wildflowers in the warmth of May
Reading again your favorite book
Looking at funny pictures that you and friends once took
Taking a long, hot bubble bath
Riding a horse down an unknown path
Long walks on a peaceful beach
Teaching someone something you never knew you could teach
Sometimes some of your greatest treasures
Happen to be life's most simple pleasures

Inevitable as death, well almost
Loving as parents to their children
Loony as Bugs Bunny & Daffy Duck
Intimidating as Shaq O’Nell
Astronomer in-training
Magician of chaos

Chaotic as chaos
Hot Headed as every star in the universe
Rebellious as a caged animal
Imaginatively talented
Sorcerer of natural elements

Yank like anyone else in the U.S.A.
Impulsive as a man bent on revenge
Nuclear as a radioactive missle
Geniuses but almost never shows it
Sarcastic as eternity
Treacherous as trying to disarm a bomb seconds from going BOOM!

Rage
If rage were a color,
It would be eternally & furiously red,
As red as fire.
If rage were a taste,
It would be infernally spicy.
If rage were a touch,

If rage were a smell,
It would be smoked as a fire.
If rage were a sound,
It would be deafening as a hyper sonic wave.

Can I be purple?
Am I yellow?

What's the Difference? by Tria

WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE

What is the difference
Between girls and boys
Boys are not always as unique then the other guys
Also boys and girls are not different
Except for the name they had
What is the difference between
Me and you
Nothing at all that’s true
What’s wrong being born as a girl
Girls and boys are the same
Nobody should judge others by their gender
What is the difference
Between female and male
Nothing at all just a fe in front of male
That’s all
Boys and girls are the same
Both are human being
Nobody should be disrespected
Just because they are a different gender from you
Put yourself in other’s shoe
What if this happens to you
What would you do

The Race by Ben B.

The Race
On the track,
At 62 MPH,
Toward the finish,
Behind the leader by half a second,
Over the last jump
With a quarter lap left,
Around the last turn,
At the line,
Despite the leaders effort,
I had pulled off the victory,
I had won the race!

Frustration by Simon M.

Frustration
If frustration were a color,
It would be a really, really deep red
As red as a red apple ready do be picked from a tree
If frustration were a taste,
It would be just like an extremely sour piece of candy.
If frustration were a touch,
It would be hotter than a bowl of magma.
If frustration were a smell,
It would be as offensive as a really burnt piece of toast.
If frustration were a sound
It would be the equivalent of an ear splitting explosion.

Racism is Wrong by Scott S.

Racism is going on all over the world.
All people should get along.
Consider not judging people by their color of their skin.
I wish everybody could get along with one another.
Saying racist things can heart other people.
Maybe someday everybody could get along.

It should not mater what color you are.
Societies need to be more grown up.

Wrong that people think that they are better than other people.
Racism is wrong, but people still do racism.
Offensive to other people.
No one should be again people that do not look alike.
God made us so we can live peacefully on earth.

Racism by Taylor J.

Racism
by Taylor J.

Racism
What is that to you?
Is it just a word?
That word is a powerful word
A word spoken by those of non-color
A word all colored people hate
A strong word that can hurt someone deep down inside
My worst enemy!
Discrimination against me
Discrimination against us the colored people of American
Racism is wrong
Those who are racist are wrong
This world is full of racist people
I am proud of my color
I am not moving from where I stand
I am a proud young black girl and I am standing up for my people
Racist, Racist, Racist
When I define that word white people screams out
Look at it white white white white
Just STOP!
We can make the world a better place without racism
Lets all be friends
Color doesn’t matter
Does it?
I am not specking for just one color I am specking for all
What I am saying is just stop racism
Racism is bad and you know
But don’t show it
It is a powerful word
That we colored people hate
Stop
That is all I ask,
A colored girl

Persistence by Ken M.

Persistence

For this portfolio
I chose persistence
Despise the great help
I showed much resistance
From Mrs. Stedman
I gained much knowledge
I hope with persistence
I will be able to go to college
To me persistence is
The key to all success
Try, and try again
Is what my parents quote
I try to do what they say
I fish and fish
But sometimes come back empty handed
I hunt and hunt
Yet still wield nothing
Many times I do that
Same story every time
Until that one fine time
When a miracle happens
I have lunker see my lure
Or a monster buck walks by my stand
All this persistence has finally paid off

Where I'm From by Michael J.

“Where I’m From”

I am from NBA, from Philadelphia 76ers and we win all of our games.
I am from the nice neighborhood, where the green grass grows.
I am from the sunflower that is bright, and that blooms so tall in the sky.
I am from Thanksgiving, where we gather for a good meal, from Donny, and my Grandma Rose, and my Aunt Carrie.
I am from the birthday celebrations, and staying up all night until the sun shines.
From respecting others and they will respect you back, and do unto others as you would want done unto you.
I am from believing that God will take care of our problems.
I’m from Virginia, Arizona, and finally La Crosse, from Ireland, and corn beef and cabbage.
From going shopping with my dad at the grocery store, and going to Wisconsin Dells where we splashed in the water, and going to Iowa to see my aunt.
I am from basketballs, and footballs that loved to be played with, because every kid should have fun every day.

If respect were a taste,

It would be as sweet as a rose still wrapped in plastic
If respect were a sound,

Nonviolence by Hannah U.

Nonviolence
by Hannah U

Nonviolence is the compromise between land and sky.
It’s as peaceful as a lamb,
And as powerful as a wave crashing into the rocks.
Nonviolence is fearless.
It faces the most dangerous storms,
And the most intimidating skies.
Nonviolence never hurts, gloats or yells when angry.
It is as beautiful as the prairie grass rolling
And as calming as a gently falling waterfall.
Nonviolence is thought of by few,
And practiced by even fewer.
Non violence is the primary way to make peace in our world.

Racism by Fred C.

If Racism were a color it would be black,
like the sky at midnight.

If racism were a taste it would taste like nasty sourer,
When you drink it and then spit it out.

If racism were a touch it feel like getting beat by the police,
When getting beat with a nite stick.

If racism were a smell it would smell like a old nasty frigerater,
When someone leaves old food in it for a year.

If racism were a sound it would sound like a little boy crying,
When kids are making fun of his skin color.

Anger by Dominic

Anger
If anger were a color,
It would be black
As the night with no stars.
If anger were a taste,
It would be just like a spoiled apple that you spit out.
If anger were a touch,
It would be sharp as a needle piercing your skin.
If anger were a smell,
It would be like being locked in a room with a bad fart in it.
If anger were a sound,
It would be the ear piercing scream like someone died.

Encouragement by David J.

Encouragement
If Encouragement were a color,
It would be a light blue
As blue the ocean
If Encouragement were a taste,
It would taste like a handful
Blue berries
If Encouragement were a touch
It would be as cool as a pool
If Encouragement were a smell,
It would smell like blue raspberry as fresh
As it can be
If Encouragement were a sound,
It would be a tune as beautiful as
A Blue Jay’s song you hear every morning.

Happiness by Cody

Happiness
If happiness were a color,
It would be dark burgundy blood red
As dark red as a glinting ruby.
If happiness were a taste, it would be just like strawberries.
If happiness were a touch,
It would be soft as a silk sheet.
If happiness were a smell,
It would be sweet as a freshly baked pie.
If happiness were a sound,
It would be refreshing as a wave hitting the shore as the sun sets.

Three words... by Chanel H.

Three words don’t seem enough to express how I feel for you
How I long to be with you, by your side, close, and near
Day by day I seem to hide behind your hurtful eyes….these painful tears do not lie how I long to be by your side I love you more them life in its self but when I stop and think “I love you” does not even begin to express my deepest feelings for you my wishes to be with you, by your side, close, and near I do not just want you I need you without you I am nothing….but a faint shadow hiding behind your lies……I long to be with you, by your side, close, and near

Hard Work by Allen S.

Hard Work
by ALLEN S.

Hard work is a part of life, school, education, and your career.
Achieve in school and then achieve in life, but you need to set goals first.
Relate life to a game but there’s no turning back to start over.
Decide to work hard to achieve your dreams and your goal’s.

Work can be challenging, but it can be fun as well.
Other then school work is what everybody needs to make money to buy a house.
Reality is working hard to achieve our hopes, dream’s, and goal’s.
Keep your goals high and your life will be successful until you die.

Justice by Aaron J.

Justice

Justice is everywhere
Justice is everything
When it isn’t there nothing is left
It’s what people deserve
It’s what the people need
If justice wasn’t here crime would be everywhere
It is the suppressor of crime
Although crime will never be gone it will get weaker
If you want revenge do not seek it seek justice
Justice is not revenge
Because justice is more important than revenge
If it weren’t here we wouldn’t be either
Justice decides most of our lives
Without justice there would be no school
Without justice there would be no work
Without justice we would not have houses, friends, or family
Justice is the exiting feeling of success
